Hotel Riviera

Location is good, in front of the port. No parking, only 3 places so you have to park your car on the port. Receptionists are not friendly at all, and the hotel is pretending to be a luxury one when it's just not. No service at all. No phone in the room, no safe. Very noisy. Only good point was the breakfast, tasty food, and lots of choices.

We decided to book through Booking.com because the hotel itself didn’t answer the phone when we tried to book directly. We booked a junior suite WITH a balcony (confirmed in the email after booking). At arrival we got a room at the left corner of the building on the first floor WITHOUT a balcony (see pic of hotel). Obviously we directly made notice of this mistake but the only action taking by the hotel management was: trying to make it our mistake by implying we only booked for two persons (instead of 2 adults and 2 kids) and implying the room should have been more expensive. First of all that had nothing to do with the fact that they gave us a room without a balcony and second of all we DID book it for 4 persons; booking.com sold us the room based on a max capacity of 4 persons (and we did fill in our 2 kids when we booked). So it was a very unprofessional and impolite respons. This hotel has the excuse that this happened before with guests and that it is a miscommunication between them and Booking.com. But is that my problem? No. They should have either called me straight away to tell me about this issue and either give me the chance to cancel the booking and look for another hotel WITH balcony OR offer a discount for the particular junior suite without balcony (because now we paid the exact same amount that other guest paid for a junior suite WITH balcony). Then last but not least, except of all of the above, we would not return because of the cold atmosphere and a very limited and mediocre quality breakfast (and for a fresh orange juice you need to pay extra)(see picture). Remember, they advertise as a 4star hotel. Ah yes, we didn’t have to pay for the small plastic water bottles we ordered at the bar to have in the room at night… that was their gesture for the “inconvenience” of the balcony issue!! I thought by booking the seemingly best hotel in CF, I would not be disappointed but unfortunately we were. Ps. The room was very noisy from street noise (cars and a shop in front of the room in the side street). I advice to look for a smaller boutique hotel, maybe inside the village with a better service. A new clean hotel on the beachfront less than 5 minutes away from the ferries. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly staff that notified us that our basic room was upgraded to a premium terrace room, the best cathegory in the hotel. It isn't usual in Italy. The room was large and spotless with a very large terrace right on the water. Very nice bed and bathroom too. There's a rooftop bar that was unfortunately closed due to "cold weather". The next day, however, there was a jazz band playing there. 1 minute away is a very nice bar Gusten that closed at 3am. All the best restaurants are within a 5-10 minute walk. Breakfast was alright. Poor by mainland standards, but decent for Sardinia. In fact, if you haven't been to Sardinia, you should also know that hotels usually don't provide hair conditioners, paper towels and have a checkout at 11am. Nor do they collect city tax. Overall, we have walked around a lot and I am quite confident that Riviera hotel is by far the nicest on the waterfront.
